Connect, follow and see activity of friends

I cannot find a way to see activity or connect to other climbers. This feature is available, with limited functionality, on the old webpage. There is also a start screen where recent activity is visible. This is generic and not related to connections. Would be helpful and provide inspiration.

UX: it takes too many taps to get to sector topos, painful to navigte between sectors

This is on Android. It takes too many taps to end up with sector topos. When I open a crag, the first likely option is “View routes”, but the sector topos are not there. One can open a route, and here is good stuff, I can now view all the photos of the routes and zoom them in, that’s really nice! From here I can get to the picture of the sector, nice. Then, getting back to the main page of the crag, there’s the section with “view topos” button. If I click a picture, it will take me to the sector, but I have no way of knowing what sector it’s going to be. If I click “View topos”, I get to the list of sectors, which makes it easy to select the sector, but I find that an extra step in my typical use case of just wanting to find the topos. I suggest adding a label with the sector name to the photos on the main page, so one can open the wanted sector directly from there. OK, now I have finally managed to open the sectory view. Typically I want to scroll through the sectorys quickly when I arrive. I can use the arrow keys to change between the photos, but I can no longer move between the sectors using the arrows. Darn. Maybe I can click the sector name? No? So to change the sector I need to press back to get back to the sector list and select the new sector from there. That’s painful. Pressing from the sector name is a painful solution as well, as I need to move my finger and think about sectors when moving on. I suggest moving from sector to the next using the same arrow keys as with changing the photos, but adding a some kind of visual hint underlining the fact that I have now moved to the topos of the next sector. Just quick first impressions. Looks really promising, good job!

Swiping boulders

I think is very very hard not having the swiping possibility once you are looking at a boulder, getting out and opening another one or going to the list and checking one boulder at the time is not very user friendly. I think one strong feature before was the swiping possibility, even if the boulders were showed in random orders, you were getting the idea of the area and an undesrstanding of the boulders around, now i do not feel to use the app more than 5 minutes to check some areas because is getting very hard to explore the zone.

Activity Feed

There is currently no feed of activities from people and locations that users follow. Issues to Address: Absence of an activity feed reduces the ability to stay informed about important updates. Possible Solutions: Introduce an activity feed that shows updates from followed crags and users, such as sector closures due to bird nesting, new routes, and changes in approach.

Sorting by ascents should show amount of ascents

When you sort the routes within a crag by ascents, it would be nice to see the actual amount of ascents each route has and not the rating, or number of ascents + rating.

Recently viewed section

At the moment home screen has “Most popular nearby“ and “Top 10 - Finland“ sections for me by default. While this perfect selection for new users it is not very helpful when you are using app extensively. It would have been very helpful to reuse data from the search history to render “Recently viewed“ section. Most of the time you open app multiple times to see same area you are climbing in or look through same list of sectors while you are on the rock trip so having them rendered by default would have made it super convenient.

Filter by type of climb

I hate being unable to sort or filter a crag’s routes by climb type. It seems like a no-brainer to be able to choose, boulder, sport, trad, dws, etc. Why should I see 43 trad routes when I came here to boulder???

Ability to follow a route/problem

I would like the ability to follow a route/problem in the same way you can follow a climber. That way, it would appear in your feed whenever someone comments on or ticks the problem. I think this would be very interesting, especially when you've established a route or want to keep track of what's happening with your project or well-known/famous routes.

When looking at "the Public ascents" at a route, it would be fun to be able to "tap" on a person and be linked to their profil. So you can se other routes climbed by that person, or if it's someone you know and are just curious.

Log attempts and repeats

Please please please let us log attempts and repeats , not only sends - it not only give much better stats but helps us remember what we want to come back to, if we liked it and how we did (a rough % or short note) so we can map out how to plan future sends. It’s amazing in thecrag and a feature supported by most other platforms.

Make it easier to discover individual routes in an area

I use the premium search in the website a lot when looking for climbs in a new area. This would be really nice to have in the app. And adding the possibility to see the routes on the map would be even better. Example use cases: 1) what are the most climbed / best rated 6c boulders in Helsinki Area. 2) I'm driving through Sweden to Norway and I want to stop for one day of climbing along the way. I would zoom into an area on the map, filter 6c boulder and I would see on the map potential locations and below a list of boulders. So basically how crags are shown now but on a individual route level. This would make it so much easier to discover climbs in new locations.

Mandatory Driving Waypoints for Parking Navigation

Summary Allow crag editors to define a specific driving route to the parking area by using mandatory waypoints. This ensures users follow landowner-approved roads instead of the "fastest route" suggested by GPS, which often leads through private property and causes access issues. The Problem: The "GPS Shortcut" Trap Currently, when a user clicks "Navigate" to a parking lot, the navigation app (Google/Apple Maps) automatically calculates the fastest route. In many rural or sensitive areas, this leads to a major problem: Trespassing: GPS often routes climbers through private roads or farm tracks where driving is forbidden. Access Bans: Even if the "Access" text description warns against these roads, many users follow the GPS line blindly. This is currently one of the leading causes of friction between landowners and the climbing community. The Solution: Mandatory Waypoints 27crags should allow editors to add a "Safe Entry Point" (waypoint) that is automatically included in the navigation link. By forcing the navigation through a specific intersection or road section, we can ensure users approach the parking lot from the correct direction. Technical Implementation The "Navigate" button should support the Google Maps Directions API URL scheme. By leaving the origin empty, the app automatically uses the user's current location. URL Format: [https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&waypoints=](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&waypoints=)[WAYPOINT]&destination=[PARKING_COORDINATES] Practical Example: If the parking is at Evatuntie 337 but the only allowed access is via the Evatuntie 1 intersection, the link would be: [https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&waypoints=Evatuntie+1&destination=Evatuntie+337](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&waypoints=Evatuntie+1&destination=Evatuntie+337) Suggested UI Change Add an optional field in the Crag/Parking editor: "Driving Waypoint (Optional)". If filled, the "Navigate" button generates a multi-point link. If empty, the button functions as a standard single-point destination. Impact Access Preservation: Proactively prevents trespassing and helps maintain good relationships with landowners. User Experience: Climbers don't need to cross-reference text instructions while driving; the "correct" route is handled automatically by their GPS.

Slow in general

I find most features quite slow, when I'm wanna go back an forth from one sector to another it gets stuck, and you end upp clicking several times and the consequence of that is that it leaves the place you are visiting completely. Also would be nice to being able to see what I have already tickt, without have to press on it .

Android full of bugs

The android version is full of bugs, it's displaying the code lines instead of the actual text. Many sections are “work in progress”, therefore inaccessible. Why are you not using a test environment and then publish the updated and working application? It's a paid service and users should not be affected by stuff like that…

Show all topos in app

Case Pöllyvuori https://27crags.com/crags/pollyvuori : Not shown in the app due missing some content - topo images or topo lines if I recall correct. IMO should still be shown on the app. I may have been adding some random images and random topo lines to some topos to go around this limitation - not good solution right?

Info missing (Access)

I find it very unclear that the red 'info missing' label with a warning icon refers to access issues. It gives the impression that the crag lacks information in general or has incomplete details. The icon and text work well when the access status is 'sensitive' and marked in orange, as it feels more descriptive in that context. A red warning icon and text should indicate that the crag is 'closed' instead

Map pans after zooming in/out

If I’m zooming in/out with a flicking motion the map will pan in some direction, sometimes quite aggressively. Google Maps handles that kind of gesture just fine as a comparison. To reproduce, make a quick zoom pinch motion (in or out) which ends without you resting a finger on the screen.
